These Delegations Visited Philadelphia In 2005!

CHINA - December 10 to 15, 2005, an Iman from China was in Philadelphia to examine religious diversity and the role of religious charities in United States Society.  He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program. 

PARAGUAY-  November 30 to December 4, 2005, a two member delegation from Paraguay was in Philadelphia to visit American Universities including Catholic universities.  They were interested in how the universities raise funds, computer technology, and standards for hiring staff and faculty.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program. 

MULTI- REGIONAL - November 17 to 22, 2005, a fifteen member delegation from eleven different countries with in South America, Central America and the Caribbean was in Philadelphia to learn about civil society and democratic institutions.  Their objectives included examining citizen' rights and responsibilities, learning techniques on how to nurture the values of democracy, and to enhance their understanding of democracy.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program. 

SPAIN -November 16 to 22, 2005, a four member delegation from the Justice Department of Spain was in Philadelphia and Wilmington to examine issues dealing with victims of crime, family/youth courts and juvenile delinquency.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

MEXICO - November 5 to 9, 2005,  a four member delegation from Mexico was in Philadelphia to learn about Transparency and anti-corruption in the United States.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program. 

CHINA - November 3 to 5, 2005, a delegate from China was in Philadelphia to learn about media law, and television programming .  He is a program director of one of the largest television stations in China.  He was interested in developing and introducing a new range of programs to China.  He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

MULTI-REGIONAL - November 2 to 6, 2005, a twenty-one member delegation was in Philadelphia to learn about accountability in government and business.  They were visiting from Bangladesh, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ghana, India, Iraq, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malawi, Mexico, Marginalia, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia Republic, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.  

INDIA - October 23 to 25, 2005, a delegate from India was in Philadelphia to visit law schools and explore possibilities of collaborative research.  He is Director of a Law School in India.  He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program. 

ANGOLA - October 19 to 22, 2005, a delegate from Angola was in Philadelphia to learn about community theater management, commercial partnerships in the arts, cultural tourism and methods to address social problems through the medium of theater.  He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program. 

NEW ZEALAND - October 18 to 20, 2005, a delegate from New Zealand was in Philadelphia to expand her skill base and knowledge in the areas of visual and public art/ urban installation works management.  She was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.  

POLAND- October 6 to 9, 2005, a delegate from Poland was in Philadelphia to learn about international studies and exchanges.  She was also learning about emerging multicultural student bodies.  She is a member of a local foundation for Democracy in Poland.  She was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program. 

TURKEY- October 5 to 7, 2005, a delegation from Turkey was  in Philadelphia to examine criminal law in the United States by looking at the judicial system at the federal and state levels, the prison system, role of attorneys, and cooperation among law enforcement and court officials. They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

PAKISTAN- October 4 to 7, 2005, a delegation from Pakistan was in Philadelphia to learn about education and religion in the U.S.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

INDONESIA- October 1 to 6, 2005, a visitor from Indonesia was in Philadelphia to examine print journalism U.S. political and cultural society, and religious diversity and tolerance. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

MULTI-REGIONAL- September 25 to 28, 2005, a Multi-Regional group was in Philadelphia to deepen their understanding of the U.S. government, federalism, and its system of checks and balances. They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

INDONESIA- September 22 to 25, 2005, a visitor from Indonesia was in Philadelphia to learn about the system of accreditation for education in the U.S. and to examine the impact of quality assurance programs in educational institutions. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

KOSOVO- September 15 to 20, 2005, a group from Kosovo was in Philadelphia attending programs on modernization at the Criminal Justice Center. They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

MEXICO-September 7 to 10, 2005, a group from Mexico was in Philadelphia to learn more about  the U.S. integrated style of arts management training programs, fundraising, and public outreach. They were guests of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

MULTI-REGIONAL- September 6 to 10, 2005, a Multi-Regional group was in Philadelphia attending programs on Empowering women in Leadership Roles. They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

LIBYA- September 3 to 8, 2005, a visitor from Libya was in Philadelphia to learn more about the U.S. healthcare system and the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. pharmaceutical industry and the Drug Utilization Review system. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

SOUTH KOREA- August 21 to 24, 2005, a guest from South Korea will be in Philadelphia attending programs on the U.S. healthcare system, specifically the industries of health insurance and pharmaceuticals and how they work together  in a market-based system  and within a larger U.S. healthcare industry. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

BELGIUM- August 18 to 20, 2005, a visitor from Belgium was in Philadelphia to learn about security issues pertaining to US-Eu relations, UN reform, and EU-UN relations as well as US perspectives on Euro-Arab cooperation. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

CHINA-August 11 to 14, 2005, a guest from China was in Philadelphia to attend programs about the American Library System including budget maintenance, digital library system, university libraries, and Intellectual Property Rights. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

UKRAINE- August 11 to 14, 2005, a guest from Ukraine was in Philadelphia attending programs about historical religion and visiting Amish Country. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

MULTI-REGIONAL-  August 4 to 9, 2005 a multi-regional group of 18 people from 18 countries were in Philadelphia to observe the role of media as a watchdog and the accountability at the state government level.  Guests are from Ghana, India, Indonesia, Israel, Jamaica, Jordon,  Laos, Losotho, Malawi, Mexico, Nigeria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovak Republic, Sri Lanka, Swaziland & Uganda.  The group was comprised of government officials, journalists, NGOs, economists and bankers.  They were guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

INDONESIA- August 4 to 7, 2005, a guest from Indonesia was in Philadelphia learning about historical religion and visiting Amish Country. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES- August 3 to 7, 2005, a delegation was in Philadelphia to expand their knowledge on Library Science. They are guests of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

MAURITIUS- July29 to August 8, 2005, a guest was in Philadelphia to learn about the U.S. family court system and other court issues. She was a guest of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

BRAZIL- July 23 to 28, 2005, a visitor from Brazil was in Philadelphia to examine orthopedic products and procedures, technical assistance, and other U.S. medical practices. He was a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

BRAZIL- July 16 to 20, 2005, a delegation from Brazil was in Philadelphia to examine the United States Court Adminstration. They were under the auspices of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

BANGLADESH- July 19 to 21, 2005, a delegation from Bangladesh wase in Philadelphia to look at the Role of Religion in the United States. They were guests of the U.S. State Department.

THAILAND- July 16 to 20, 2005, a guest from Thailand was in Philadelphia to look at the Rule of Law and the United States Court System. He was a guest of the U.S. State Department.

CHINA- July 14 to 19, 2005, a visitor from China was in Philadelphia attending programs about the role of religion and religious groups in the United States. He was under the auspices of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

CHINA-July 13 to 16, 2005, a guest from China was in Philadelphia to look at primary and secondary education in the United States. He was a guest of the International Visitor Leadership Program.

BRAZIL-July 5 to 9, 2005 a visitor from Brazil was in Philadelphia to attend programs to learn about the hip-hop movement in the U.S. The program also focused on cultural and educational programs aimed at at-risk youth. This was a International Visitor Leadership sponsored program.

INDONESIA - July 3 to 9, 2005 an Indonesian group visited Philadelphia to celebrate Independence Day, observe the criminal justice system, and visit a small town with the focus on civic life in a small U.S. community.

MULTI-REGIONAL-July 3 to 7, 2005 a multi-regional group of 25 investigative journalists will be in Philadelphia to experience the Independence Day celebrations and to observe free press and media in the U.S.   Countries represented are:  Bhutan, Cambodia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ghana, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Macedonia, Maldives, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Senegal, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Yemen. The visitors were guests of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program and enjoyed celebrating our 4th of July with nice Philadelphians! 

TURKEY- June 27 to 29, 2005, a group from Turkey was in Philadelphia to attend programs on the U.S. energy regulation structure.They were guests of the U.S. State Department.

COLOMBIA- June 25 to 29, 2005, a visitor from Columbia will be in Philadelphia to observe the trends in treatment and eradication of infectious diseases. The program will focus on HIV and AIDS.  The visitor was a guest of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

KOREA- June 22 to 26, 2005, a guest from Korea will be in Philadelphia attending programs with a focus on the U.S. political system. They are a guest of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.

NETHERLANDS- June 14 to 18, 2005 a group from the Netherlands will be in Philadelphia to learn about financial aid, Middle Atlantic State Accredidation and public/private partnership.  These visitors are guests of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

CHINA- June 9 to 14, 2005, a visitor from China will be in Philadelphia attending programs about environmental protection, laws, and regulations. He is under the auspices of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

BOSNIA- June 8 to 11, 2005, A group from Bosnia will be in Philadelphia visiting a IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center to observe customer service, and will meet with a tax attorney.  These visitors are guests of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

TURKEY- June 7 to 10, 2005 a group will be in Philadelphia to observe public awareness, faith base-volunteer at St. John's Hospice, and NGO's working together.  These visitors are guests of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

BRAZIL -May 25 to 27, 2005 an individual from  Brazil will be in Philadelphia visiting the Amish looking at farming issues and going to the Rodale Institute. The visitor is a guest of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

KRYGZ REPUBLIC - A delegation of Textiles and Handicrafts Professionals will be in Philadelphia from May 10 to 27, 2005, to take part in the U.S. State Department leadership development program.  All participants will live with Philadelphia area families for a total immersion into American Culture.  They will be in the U.S. on the State Department's Community Connections Program.

JAPAN-May19 to 21, 2005, a visitor from Japan will be in Philadelphia spending most of their time at the PJM Interconnection. They are under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.

THAILAND-May 18 to 21,2005, a guest from Thailand will be in Philadelphia attending a program to explore the assets that ethnic, cultural and religious deversity bring to United States society and government. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Depatrment of State.

BRAZIL- May 11 to 14, 2005, a visitor from Brazil will be attending the American Intellectual Property Law Association Spring Meeting. they are a guest of the State Department's International Visitors Leadership Program.

ITALY- May 10 to 12, 2005, a delegation from Italy will be in Wilmington, DE attending a Intellectual Property Rights trial. They will possibly be attending a trial or meeting with a  Intellectual Property Rights attorny in Philadelphia. They are guests under the auspices of the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program.

KOSOVO- April 2005, a group of 5 visitors will be in Philadelphia looking at Civic Education. These are visitors of the U.S. State Department.

POLAND- April 23 to 27, 2005, a group from Poland will be in Philadelphia to take part in the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program. This program will be looking at persons with disabilities.

MULTI-REGIONAL- April 20, 2005, a group of 22 visitors will be in Philadelphia to participate in a program on homeland security and smuggling and trafficking topics. The visitors are guests of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.

CHINA- April 14 to 16, 2005, a guest from China will be in Philadelphia under the auspices of the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program. The program will focus on production and media in the United States.

FRANCE- April 13 to 15, 2005, a visitor from France will be in Philadelphia to explore agriculture policy and economics. This visitor is invited to the United States by the State Departments International Visitor Leadership Program.

CHINA- April 7 to 10, 2005, a visitor from China will be in Philadelphia to look at IPR protection and anti-narcotics smuggling. The visitor is a guest of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.

MEXICO- April 6 to 8, 2005, Two Mexican officials of Public Education will be in Philadelphia under the auspices of the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program. They will be looking at Education; the english language teaching and accreditation standards in the U.S.

CHINA-  April 1 to 6, 2005, An official from Hong Kong will be In Philadelphia. This visitor is invited to the United States by the State Departments International Visitor Leadership Program.

RUSSIA - From April 1 to 5, 2005, a group of 9 Russian participants will be in Philadelphia under the auspices of the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program. Their program entails looking at the U.S. Political Process.

UZBEKISTAN - From March 2 to 16, 2005, a delegation from the cities of Qo'qon and Farghona (A.K.A Quqon, Kokand and Fergana) took part in State Department's nation-building program "Cultural and Religious Pluralism in Uzbekistan and the United States."

MULTI-REGIONAL- From March 10 to 15, 2005, a group of 23 professionals from different countries will be in Philadelphia, for the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program. This group's program  focus is "Leadership Development in Women."

ITALY-  March 4, 2005, an official involved with immigration from Florence, Italy was in Philadelphia under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.   He looked at U.S. immigration policy, upcoming legislation and strategies to combat the trafficking of people internationally and domestically.

HUNGARY-  From March 2 to 5, 2005, an entrepeneur from Hungary was in Philadelphia and took part in the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program; An Individual Project for Hungary. His main focus was on the U.S higher education system.

MULTI-REGIONAL - From February 20 to 24, 2005, a group of 11 visitors from North Africa and the Middle East were in Philadelphia. These were visitors of the U.S. Department of State  who took part in the U.S. State Department Leadership Program. This program had 3 separate themes: "Volunteerism in the United States", "Private Sector Philanthropy in the U.S.", and "The Role of Public-Private Partnerships." The countries that were in attendance of the program were as follows: AlGERIA, BAHRAIN, EGYPT, GAZA, IRAQ, JORDAN, MOROCCO, OMAN, SAUDI ARABIA, TUNISIA, and YEMEN. 

ARGENTINA - From February 20 to 23, 2005, a group of 16 young leaders participated in the U.S. Department of State single country project for Argentina. Their project focus was on "Political and Economic Systems in the U.S." These young professionals' program objectives entailed exploring the United States social, economic and political processes.

TANZANIA - From February 20 to 23, 2005, a group of 10 Tanzanian Parliamentarians were in Philadelphia. They were part of the State Department's single country project for Tanzania. The program's main focus was "The Role of Legislature as an Oversight Body."

CHINA - An entrepreneur was in Philadelphia From February 18 to 23, 2005 to participate in an "International Visitors Leadership Project" spearheaded by the State Department. This entrepreneur's project goals included looking at community development, and small business development in the United States.  She also looked at the banking and credit system in the United States, women entrepreneurship and networking opportunities, as well as commercial real estate and urban planning.

GEORGIA - From February 17 to 20, 2005, a group of six visitors from Georgia were in Philadelphia. These visitors were partipants of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.  The theme was "Accreditation in Higher Education, A Single Country Project."

TURKEY - From February 16 to 18, 2005, three provincial administrators from Turkey were in Philadelphia under the auspices of the State Department'sInternational Visitor Leadership Program. Their program's  mainly focus was on observing first-hand operation of state and local government within the federal system.

AZERBAIJAN - From January 26 to February 12, 2005, a group of Women's Crisis Issues Professionals from Azerbaijan were in Philadelphia, to take part in The U.S. State Department Leadership Program. They were in Philadelphia for an intensive two weeks technical training, and at the same time all the participants  lived with Philadelphia area families for a total immersion into American Culture.

MULTI- REGIONAL -
From January 19 to January 23, 2005, a group of 12 State Department visitors were in Philadelphia to take part in a U.S State Department program that focused on "Civic Education." The participants were from 12 different countries; Burma, Cote D'ivoire, Kenya, Liberia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan,  The Philippines, Poland, Rwanda, The Slovak Republic, and South Africa.

THAILAND- 
From January 16 to 19, 2005, one visitor from Thailand was in Philadelphia. He was had been here taking part in a Department of State's International Visitor Leadership program. His program objectives concentrated on the U.S. federal system of goverment.

BRAZIL -  The Civil Police Chief from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will be in Philadelphia from March 26 to March 29, 2005.  Her program will focus on law enforcement and she will visit such places as the U.S. Attorney's Office, Philadelphia Justice Center and the Federal Detention Center.  The visitor is a guest of the U.S. State Department on its International Visitor Leadership Program.
